Hello, my name is Katia!

I’m an LA-based emerging filmmaker passionate about magical realist stories and analog, mixed-media visuals.

A Dollhouse is a Curious Organ, is one of three short films I’m working on, each with a shared motif of portals- into the self or other hard to reach places.

This is a proof of concept teaser I shot, edited, storyboarded & starred in by myself, in order to loosely test out ideas. It was selected as a finalist entry for Canon’s First Cut Contest, a nationwide filmmaking competition with a grand prize of $25k funding. Although I didn’t go home with the grand prize, I was a runner-up and had my submission screened at a red carpet premiere in a theater before a panel of industry judges.

The final film would be horizontal, shot on 16mm Kodak Vision3 250D Color Negative Film, executed with a professional crew, and tonally shifted in a slightly more playful direction.
