Hello, my name is Katia!

I’m an LA-based emerging filmmaker passionate about magical realist stories and analog, mixed-media visuals.

This is a proof of concept teaser for A Dollhouse is a Curious Organ and two other shorts I’m developing, each with a shared motif of portals- into the self or other hard to reach places. At the end, there’s a BTS sequence sharing a window into my process.

It was selected as a finalist entry for Canon’s 2025 First Cut Contest a nationwide filmmaking competition with a grand prize of $25k funding where creators were encouraged to solely shoot and edit a concept within a limited amount of time. My entry was runner-up and screened at a red carpet premiere in a theater before a panel of industry judges.

The final film would be horizontal, shot on 16mm Kodak Vision3 250D Color Negative Film, and brought to life with a full crew.
